Khalda Petroleum Company 13x Network Bandwidth Jump with Lower Costs

Khalda Petroleum Company, which operates 29 fields across Egypt’s Western Desert, needed far greater and more cost‑effective connectivity than its legacy microwave systems (1.5–2.5 GHz links at 4×2 Mbps and 64 Kbps point‑to‑multipoint) could provide to support voice, CCTV and SCADA/DCS remote monitoring. To meet those needs they engaged Cambium Networks to upgrade the network infrastructure.

Cambium Networks deployed a mix of PTP 300, PTP 500, PTP 650 and PTP 670 backhaul radios along with PMP 450 and PMP 450i access units (PTP 650/670 covering 20+ main sites; PMP units at nine sites), delivering up to 54 Mbps — a 13× bandwidth increase — while reducing operating costs. The solution enabled reliable SCADA/DCS control, CCTV surveillance and voice across remote wells, and Khalda plans further expansion using Cambium’s tools such as LINKPlanner and Wireless Manager.
