The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) in Tampa, Florida, needed to upgrade its Eye on Crime video surveillance system after its older mesh network could no longer support an expanding array of HDTV cameras, ALPR integration, and shot‑spotter systems. HCSO selected Cambium Networks and its PMP 450 wireless broadband technology to provide the higher bandwidth and low latency required for real‑time pan/zoom and reliable video monitoring.

Cambium Networks, working with SiteSecure and Miller Critical Infrastructure Solutions, deployed a QoS‑enabled, all‑wireless PMP 450 network connecting 83 cameras and delivering up to 125 Mbps in a 20 MHz channel with consistently low latency. The solution has operated reliably through severe weather, improved deputies’ ability to identify suspects and witnesses in real time, supported video in roughly 1,400 cases last year, and the successful pilot is now being expanded to more locations.
