A Cambium Networks Case Study
MontanaSky Networks, a regional ISP and IT services provider, was called in to upgrade guest Wi‑Fi at the KOA campground in West Glacier where visitors were limited to a 3 Mbps bonded DSL service with poor coverage. Facing an underserved rural site, an unclear bandwidth requirement, and a tight cost budget, MontanaSky sought a solution that would blanket the outdoor campground with reliable, higher‑speed wireless for both guests and campground operations. They selected Cambium Networks and its wireless portfolio (PTP 650 backhaul, ePMP distribution with Force 180 subscriber modules, cnPilot outdoor access points, and cnMaestro management) to meet those needs.
Cambium Networks delivered an all‑wireless architecture: a PTP 650 backhaul (up to 450 Mbps) feeding an ePMP distribution and cnPilot e500/e501 access points, all managed via cnMaestro. The deployment—13 pole‑mounted sites installed in about 2.5 hours each—raised offered service from 3 Mbps to an initial 100 Mbps, with typical end‑user throughput of 20–40 Mbps and 423 devices currently observed on the network. Cambium Networks’ solution also simplified installation (single‑cable powering) and provides 24/7 monitoring, delivering the coverage, capacity, and manageability the campground required.
