GVEC Leverages Cambium Solutions to Enhance Rural Member Services

Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC), which operates GVEC.net and serves roughly 3,500 square miles across Texas, faced increasing RF congestion from new Wi‑Fi ISPs and needed a more reliable, scalable broadband solution to reach rural, under‑served members and support operational communications (AMR, remote breakers, substations). GVEC selected Cambium Networks and its fixed broadband portfolio — including Canopy 2.4 GHz Access Points, PMP 320 APs and PTP 300/500/600/800 series radios — to meet these needs.

Cambium Networks deployed more than 100 Canopy 2.4 GHz APs, 60 PMP 320 APs and numerous PTP links (including 15 PTP 800 systems) with Wireless Manager for device control. The Cambium solution delivered exceptional backhaul throughput and stability with no downtime, superior performance in congested RF conditions, greatly improved rural penetration and distributed access, efficient communications for meters and operational controls, and up to 115 subscribers on a single AP — demonstrating measurable scalability and reliability for GVEC.
