A Cambium Networks Case Study
Gulf of Suez Petroleum Co. (GUPCO), a leading oil and gas producer in Egypt, needed a resilient, secure onshore‑and‑offshore network to connect three remote processing areas, nine production platforms and offshore rigs, and 80 unmanned production platforms across a concession area of more than 150 km. Facing aging broadband links, high maintenance, regulatory requirements (including a move to the 5.8 GHz band) and the need to support SCADA, CCTV, videoconferencing, vessel tracking and other critical services, GUPCO partnered with Systel to deploy Cambium Networks’ fixed wireless equipment and cnMaestro management platform.
Cambium Networks delivered a mixed PTP/PMP solution — including 14 PTP 670 ATEX/HAZLOC units, 22 PMP 450i ATEX/HAZLOC access points and 10 PMP 450i subscriber modules — all managed by cnMaestro. The deployment replaced unsupported links, met NTRA and safety requirements, and achieved the designed capacity, improved stability and unified communications within the planned schedule and budget (with no downtime during the COVID pandemic). As a result, GUPCO gained cost‑effective, expandable coverage, enhanced video surveillance and reliable real‑time monitoring and reporting.
