A Cambium Networks Case Study
Intelia, a communications service provider and systems integrator based in Noumea, was asked by the town of Paita to design and deploy city‑wide free public Wi‑Fi on a tight municipal budget. Facing almost no existing public coverage and a requirement to support web browsing, email, light streaming and social networking for residents, Intelia selected Cambium Networks products—notably the cnPilot E500 outdoor access points—and complementary services to meet technical and financial constraints.
Intelia built a 3 km 5 GHz wireless backbone to avoid leased lines and deployed cnPilot E500 APs (with mesh capability), using cnMaestro cloud management and Encapto for captive‑portal and user quotas. The Cambium Networks solution reliably serves about 200 users per day, is easy to manage (scheduling and bandwidth limits set in minutes), and enforces limits of 1 Mbps per user and 500 MB per hour; rugged IP67/UV‑rated equipment has performed well in the Pacific environment. Intelia also introduced ad sales to create ROI, and plans to expand coverage to more city areas.
