A Cambium Networks Case Study
Red River Communications, a North Dakota service provider connecting roughly 4,000 customers across 3,000 square miles, needed to replace an aging 900 MHz, 3 Mbps network to expand into new markets, increase speeds, and create a sustainable revenue stream with a five‑year payback. To do this they selected Cambium Networks solutions — notably the PTP 800 backhaul and PMP 450 last‑mile systems — and planned to move to licensed spectrum to eliminate interference and deliver reliable higher throughput.
Cambium Networks deployed licensed PTP 800 microwave backhaul (providing consistent 368 Mbps) and PMP 450 access networks (125 Mbps per AP on 3.65 GHz) to tower sites and subscribers, replacing legacy equipment. The upgraded segment consistently outperformed competing DSL, grew subscribers from 385 to 500 before formal marketing, and is on schedule for the five‑year payback target; customers report higher speeds and improved service while Red River gains a profitable new revenue stream.
