Ensuring Wi-Fi Connectivity for Vehicles Arriving at Dealerships

The Sofida Group, a large French automotive distributor founded in 1965 with 24 dealerships and over 700 employees, faced a growing challenge: new vehicles arrive with onboard Wi‑Fi modules and require high‑bandwidth, reliable connectivity for tasks like GPS updates. To standardize and future‑proof its sites, Sofida evaluated solutions from Cambium Networks, including a test of the cnPilot e410 access point and the XV2‑2 Wi‑Fi 6 terminals.

Sofida deployed nearly 1 Gbps FTTH at its sites and rolled out five to six Cambium Networks access points per dealership (testing cnPilot e410 then expanding with XV2‑2), added a Cambium Captive Portal, a RADIUS server, and centralized monitoring via cnMaestro. The Cambium Networks solution was validated and is being expanded to all Peugeot–Citroën locations; the higher bandwidth and Wi‑Fi coverage sped up vehicle delivery (even when GPS updates are required), improved technician efficiency, and enabled standardized, auditable guest and staff access.
