Case Study: E-vergent defeats interference and boosts uplink performance with Cambium Networks ePMP 2000

E-vergent - Customer Case Study

E-vergent, a broadband provider serving about 3,000 business and residential customers across Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin with 160 access point locations, was losing speeds and getting trouble calls as rising ambient and off‑channel interference drove MCS levels down to 2–4. To tackle the issue, E-vergent trialed Cambium Networks’ ePMP 2000 Access Point (building on its existing ePMP deployment) to see if the vendor’s newer, GPS‑synchronized solution could improve performance without changing customer equipment.

Cambium Networks’ ePMP 2000 — featuring Hypure technology with Smart Beamforming and Intelligent Filtering — was installed alongside an ePMP 1000 for direct comparison; because the AP is compatible with existing subscriber modules, no customer visits were needed. The ePMP 2000 delivered immediate uplink gains and higher throughput (MCS rose from ~2–4 to 10–15), resisted off‑channel noise that measured as high as −30 dB (on‑channel was −80 dB), and provided a simple, automatic operation; E-vergent reports fewer trouble calls, better customer satisfaction, and plans to expand using Cambium Networks’ ePMP 2000.
