Digital Oil Field Streamlines Telecommunications With Fixed Wireless Access

The Oil and Gas Company faced unreliable, time-consuming connectivity at remote oil pads where manual installation and alignment of subscriber modules (SMs) to fixed access points drove up labor and cellular costs. To address this, the company turned to Cambium Networks, using the Cambium Intelligent Positioner for Nomadic Wireless Broadband paired with PMP 450i Subscriber Modules to enable preconfigured, easily managed fixed wireless access.

Cambium Networks implemented Intelligent Positioners with pre-populated APs and a GUI-driven alignment process so each PMP 450i SM automatically scans and locks onto the intended AP in about seven minutes or less. The one-touch solution cut SM installation from roughly two hours to mere minutes, saving an estimated 50 installation-hours per year, supporting biweekly deployments, and enabling plans to add more units (one site will add eight across four rigs); overall Cambium Networks’ deployment delivered faster, more reliable broadband to run critical oil‑field applications.
