Cybernet - Customer Case Study

Cybernet, an ISP based in Arusha, Tanzania, needed to provide broadband and video-surveillance connectivity across the 8,000 km² Ngorongoro Conservation Area where trenching cable would harm the environment and satellite links were unreliable. To meet this challenge Cybernet turned to Cambium Networks, using LINKPlanner for network design and a connectorized PTP 650 radio (with 4‑ft antennas) for the long‑range backhaul.

Using Cambium Networks equipment, Cybernet deployed a single point‑to‑point backhaul and point‑to‑multipoint access network that delivers about 299 Mbps over links up to 143 km (88 miles) (designed for 300 Mbps aggregate in a 40 MHz Sub‑6 GHz channel). The link has performed as predicted with no downtime, enabling reliable office connectivity, video surveillance and guest Wi‑Fi at lodges, and Cybernet is expanding the rollout with PMP 450 access in 5.4 GHz and licensed 3.5 GHz to support more voice, video and data services.
