Case Study: AIM Enterprises achieves reliable 245 Mbps, 40 km island connectivity with Cambium Networks PTP 650

A Cambium Networks Case Study

Preview of the AIM Enterprises Case Study

Connecting Islands for the First Time

AIM Enterprises, a local communications networking expert, was charged with bringing connectivity to the remote Andaman and Nicobar Islands, beginning with a 40 km over‑sea link between Port Blair and Neil Island where laying OFC or undersea cable was infeasible. To meet growing needs from government, businesses and tourists, AIM sought a reliable wireless solution and engaged Cambium Networks to overcome the long-distance, over-water challenge.

AIM Enterprises selected the Cambium Networks PTP 650 point-to-point backhaul and used Cambium’s LINKPlanner to design the link; with Dynamic Spectrum Optimization and advanced modulation the PTP 650 delivered a stable, low-latency 245 Mbps connection across the 40 km span, connecting roughly 10,000 people. Tested with BSNL and handed over to the operator, the Cambium solution outperformed alternatives, cut operating costs (about $37,500 USD saved per year), and AIM now plans to expand connectivity to another 20 islands using Cambium products.
