A Cambium Networks Case Study
COMeSER, a municipal ISP serving the province of Parma in northern Italy, was created to connect businesses, government and residents left behind by national telcos. Facing scarce frequency availability and low-capacity legacy wireless systems, COMeSER engaged Cambium Networks, deploying PTP 650 for backhaul and PMP 450 and ePMP platforms for urban and rural access to tailor service levels to each customer.
Using Cambium Networks’ PTP 650, PMP 450 and ePMP solutions, COMeSER increased spectral efficiency and synchronized sites to reuse frequencies, boosting capacity and range. The deployment extended reach to 20 km per subscriber, delivered up to 20 Mbps per customer, supported about 50 subscribers per access point (vs. prior limits of ~25 and ~15 Mbps per sector), and helped grow the network to 7,000 subscribers (adding ~100/month), while cutting OPEX and hardware costs and delivering roughly tenfold bandwidth improvements.
