cnWave goes to the beach: free Wi-Fi for visitors at new beach promenade in Germany

OMG.de GmbH was tasked with delivering free, high-capacity Wi‑Fi across the new "Das DECK" beach promenade in Norddeich and chose Cambium Networks products for the rollout. The challenge was to cover a large, open area with many concurrent visitors around the clock while withstanding harsh North Sea weather (wind, rain) and providing high bandwidth and seamless roaming for mobile users.

Cambium Networks deployed nine outdoor units at four locations—six Wi‑Fi 6 Outdoor Access Points (XV2‑2T0, XV2‑23T and XV2‑2T1) and three cnWave 60 GHz fixed wireless components (V5000 and V2000)—to provide robust, gigabit-capable coverage. The solution gives each AP the capacity to serve roughly 256–512 devices depending on model, uses roaming to keep users connected while moving, and leverages cnWave 280° sector antennas to cover large areas, delivering a reliable, modern free Wi‑Fi experience for promenade visitors.
