A Cambium Networks Case Study
PrimoWireless, a wireless broadband operator serving the Taranaki region of New Zealand, faced difficult terrain (hills, valleys and dense forests) that made line-of-sight connectivity and reliable service delivery challenging. Under the Rural Broadband Initiative they also relied on a third‑party cellular provider for many customers, which caused support delays, limited data plans and thin margins. PrimoWireless chose Cambium Networks’ cnRanger LTE solution to address these issues.
Cambium Networks deployed the cnRanger LTE platform — onsite BBUs, RRHs, 90° sector antennas and high‑gain subscriber modules — planned with LINKPlanner to optimize sector azimuths. PrimoWireless has rolled out five cnRanger sites, added 53 customers who were previously unreachable, and now serves over 4,500 customers in the region; overlapping sectors give redundancy and the move onto their own network improved service control, customer experience and revenue retention.
