A Cambium Networks Case Study
CMS Internet, a rural broadband provider in Michigan, needed a cost‑effective way to deliver modern speeds that support video streaming and gaming to low- and medium-density locations and to defend against nearby fiber overbuild. After evaluating options, they selected Cambium Networks’ ePMP 4500 fixed wireless platform (with a hybrid approach including ePMP 4600 and 60 GHz where appropriate) to meet their requirement to offer a baseline 100/20 Mbps service at attractive prices under about $60/month.
Using Cambium Networks’ ePMP 4500, CMS Internet deployed closer micro‑PoP APs and phased upgrades to replace older radios, enabling a 100 Mbps down / 20 Mbps up package on a single 40 MHz channel. Measured results include a 4500L 2x2 AP serving 26 subscribers (software roadmap to 120) and a 4500 8x8 MU‑MIMO AP serving 15 (plans to grow to 60), while testing of ePMP 4600 has demonstrated multi‑hundred Mbps to gigabit class aggregates—improving margins, ROI, subscriber speeds, and competitiveness versus fiber and satellite.
