A Cambium Networks Case Study
The City of Redondo Beach, a coastal municipality serving 420 employees across 15 departments and numerous public venues, struggled with an aging, controller‑based Wi‑Fi installed in 2006 that was prone to equipment failures, outages, poor performance in high‑density areas, and heavy management overhead. To address these issues the City evaluated alternatives and selected Cambium Networks’ Xirrus Wi‑Fi solution (deployed via the Avaya Fabric Connect integration) to modernize coverage across city buildings, libraries, parks and the performing arts center.
Cambium Networks deployed 82 Xirrus access points (including XR‑520, XR‑4420 and XR‑4820 models) and Xirrus Application Control to provide visibility, app blocking and bandwidth management while enabling radios to be tuned to 2.4/5 GHz for future growth. The result: a significant reduction in time spent troubleshooting, no public complaints since deployment, increased Wi‑Fi use by staff and constituents, and seamless high‑density performance in the city’s libraries and event spaces.
