A Cambium Networks Case Study
The City of Dallas faced a high rate of accidents and red-light violations at major intersections across 225 square miles and needed a fast, low-cost way to interconnect 60 cameras at 40 intersections (60 approaches) despite non-line-of-sight conditions, interference and some locations up to 10 miles apart. To meet a tight schedule and equipment-placement constraints, the City turned to Cambium Networks and its PTP 58400 Point-to-Point Ethernet bridges to provide the required backbone connectivity.
Cambium Networks deployed 140 PTP 58400 units on existing water and communications towers, building a ring topology backhaul that delivered up to 30 Mbps each way, overcame interference and obstructions, and was fully operational in about five and a half months. The Cambium solution provided reliable, rapidly deployable backhaul for the red-light camera network, improved traffic safety, generated additional fine revenue that helps fund the program, and met the City of Dallas’s technical and deadline requirements.
