A Cambium Networks Case Study
BLIP Networks, a decade-old local ISP serving residents and small businesses across rural southern Illinois, was constrained by infrastructure that could only handle about 25 subscribers per Access Point. As subscriber density grew, BLIP struggled to add new customers without a costly, time-consuming system overhaul, so co-owner Ian Ellison tested Cambium Networks’ ePMP Elevate™ software to see if it could boost capacity with minimal hardware changes and disruption.
Cambium Networks’ ePMP Elevate™—a software solution that runs on OpenWRT hardware and interoperates with existing APs—was deployed in a beta across an 800-user, multi-tower network. By adding ePMP Access Points and loading CPEs with the Elevate firmware, BLIP increased usable capacity without replacing equipment or extensive site visits, achieving noticeably steadier latency and consistent speeds, a larger subscriber base, and far more predictable channel planning. Cambium Networks’ solution allowed BLIP to expand affordably and plan to roll out Elevate across more regions.
