Beacon Multi Academy Trust Delivers Excellence in Education With 15% Fewer Wi-Fi Access Points

Beal High School, part of The Forest Academy, was hampered by an aging Wi‑Fi 5 deployment that produced slow logins, frequent buffering and daily disconnections across two campuses as controllers reached end‑of‑life. They turned to Cambium Networks (with partner Orbex Solutions) to move to Wi‑Fi 6, using Cambium’s XV2‑2X and XV3‑8 access points and cloud management (cnMaestro/ONE Network) to address capacity and lifecycle issues.

Cambium Networks’ solution—designed and deployed by Orbex—consolidated both schools onto a single cloud controller and installed high‑density Wi‑Fi 6 APs (206 installed of 210 planned), cutting hardware needs by 15% versus a one‑for‑one plan. The result: 100% building coverage, reliable service for 3,500 users with more than 500 devices concurrently, faster logins and streaming, and a stable system managed through Cambium’s cloud platform.
