Airtel Tanzania Wins Connectivity Business in a Competitive Market

Airtel Tanzania faced rapid demand for reliable broadband in Dar es Salaam but was constrained by high equipment costs, crowded tower space, interference and high OPEX that limited deployments to a few point-to-point links. To grow in a competitive market with nine telcos and 30+ ISPs, Airtel Tanzania chose Cambium Networks’ ePMP platform (ePMP 1000 AP and Force 200/180 subscriber modules) to move from PTP to a point-to-multipoint strategy.

Cambium Networks implemented 30 ePMP 1000 Access Points and 180 subscriber modules, using the LINKPlanner tool for accurate network planning and installation. The solution delivered high throughput, 100% availability, support for 100+ subscribers per AP, and affordable CAPEX—resulting in more than 180 subscribers in phase one and a reported 100x increase in revenue versus the previous PTP platform, positioning Airtel Tanzania for rapid market growth.
