Airport Hotel Near London Is Now a Conference Destination Thanks to New Wi-Fi

Taran Microsystems was engaged to upgrade Wi‑Fi at an airport hotel near London whose aging 802.11n access points delivered slow speeds, poor coverage and no usable connectivity in communal areas. Taran partnered with Cambium Networks to deploy Cambium’s wireless portfolio — including XE3‑4 Wi‑Fi 6E and XV2 series Wi‑Fi 6 access points, cnMatrix EX2052‑P PoE switches and cnMaestro cloud management — as a non‑disruptive overlay on the existing system.

Cambium Networks implemented the solution in three days, delivering full property coverage and capacity for an average of 400 users (peaks ~900). Throughput increased from ~1.5 Mbps to ~180 Mbps, coverage rose from ~10% to 100%, and the installation cost was 60% lower than competitive options. As a result, guests enjoy reliable high‑speed Wi‑Fi, the hotel now regularly hosts 200+ person conferences without complaints, and the network is ready to support future IoT and hospitality services.
