A Wi-Fi infrastructure in 39 schools, with full remote management

Coutances Mer Et Bocage, the intermunicipality responsible for 39 kindergartens and elementary schools serving about 3,800 pupils and roughly 100 teachers, needed a reliable, easy‑to‑install Wi‑Fi infrastructure that could be fully managed remotely and allow power cycling of access points. The tender was won with a solution based on Cambium Networks equipment — notably the cnPilot e410 access points and the cnMaestro cloud management system — to replace patchwork local setups and support mobile classrooms and shared devices (tablets, laptops).

Cambium Networks deployed 155 cnPilot e410 APs across the 39 schools (deployment started May 2018 and was operational in some schools by September 2018), all managed centrally via cnMaestro. Each classroom AP includes a power switch for remote rebooting, schools have dedicated ADSL links, and separate SSIDs are configured for pupils and staff. The result is a standardized, remotely managed Wi‑Fi network that is unanimously approved by users, supports up to 300 simultaneous users, connects thousands of students and staff, and eliminated local maintenance headaches for the Coutances Mer Et Bocage technical team.
