Snohomish County, Washington’s Planning and Development Services department faced major logistical and security challenges in managing permit and code enforcement information across a large, dispersed service area. The county also needed a better way to handle anonymous complaints and improve access to information for staff and citizens. Calytera’s AMANDA business automation system was adopted to address these needs.

With Calytera’s AMANDA, Snohomish County centralized project information so staff could access it from any location, reduced administrative work, and improved productivity by redeploying clerks to other roles. The system also enabled encrypted anonymous online complaints, restricted sensitive data to authorized staff, and simplified permit payment tracking through the Cashier module. The county is now planning to expand into online permitting, and AMANDA’s timekeeping module is expected to help track permit-level costs and support a better fee schedule.
