The City of Austin, one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States, needed a better city-wide solution to replace its aging Oracle-based PIER system. As staff changes led to a loss of knowledge, the legacy platform became increasingly difficult to support and could not easily scale across departments. Calytera’s Amanda Building Permitting & Compliance Solution was selected to address these challenges.

Calytera implemented Amanda in a phased rollout across multiple departments, helping Austin meet all 1,827 functional requirements from its RFP. The city converted more than 4 million records, established over 3,500 business rules, and now uses the system to deliver 55 services to more than 850 employees. Since go-live, Austin has processed tens of thousands of permits annually and gained greater efficiency, standardization, and risk reduction across permitting and licensing operations.
