The Inspiring Story of PCS and How They Used P2P Texts to Reach 100,000 Petition Signatures

Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS), the UK’s largest civil service trade union, needed to quickly gather 100,000 petition signatures to trigger a Parliamentary debate on pay for civil servants. After early outreach via calls and email stalled at around 60,000 signatures, PCS needed a faster way to reach members before the deadline. CallHub provided the peer-to-peer texting platform that fit this high-volume, time-sensitive outreach challenge.

Using CallHub’s P2P texting software, PCS trained about 200 volunteers for a “Super Saturday” texting push and ran a full-day campaign with real-time tracking, multiple simultaneous conversations, saved replies, and personalized texts. The result was 10,000 signatures in a single day and 104,703 signatures by the deadline, securing the Parliamentary debate. CallHub also helped PCS strengthen its future campaign strategy by showing when texting works best and by exploring Salesforce integration for more targeted outreach.
