eXPD8, a field marketing agency operating across the UK and Ireland, faced the challenge of efficiently scheduling thousands of weekly store visits for its 3,000 merchandisers. The company needed to optimize these journeys to significantly reduce fuel consumption and travel costs, a task made complex by a constantly changing roster of stores and staff availability. Caliper Corporation's Maptitude software was used to address this logistical challenge.

The solution implemented by Caliper Corporation used the Distance and Travel Time Tables within Maptitude to automatically calculate the ten closest staff members to each store and the ten nearest stores to one another. This data allowed eXPD8 to assign and sequence calls optimally. As a result, eXPD8 dramatically reduced unnecessary travel, achieving substantial positive environmental and financial results while maintaining the flexibility to easily incorporate new staff and stores into their scheduling.
