Calfrac improves production up to 20% with Calfrac Well Services

The customer, Calfrac, faced a challenge in the Bakken Formation where traditional beliefs held that high concentrations of friction reducer would cause formation damage and poor production. It was also thought that such fluid systems could not effectively carry sand through long, ~10,000-foot lateral wellbores without high pump rates. Calfrac utilized Calfrac's CalVisc™ fracturing fluid system to overcome these challenges.

The solution involved using the CalVisc system to successfully place the same sand schedules as crosslinked fluids, achieving sand concentrations up to 4 ppg. Calfrac's implementation resulted in reduced pressures during operations, and customers documented production improvements of up to 20% compared to original designs, alongside improved economics due to needing less equipment.
