Catlin Group - Customer Case Study

Catlin Group, a global insurance and reinsurance business with 60 offices in 21 countries, faced the challenge of running a large, largely outsourced facilities operation with a small London-based FM team of about 10 people while relying on spreadsheets for data. To professionalize and centralize FM across multiple regional hubs, Catlin selected CAFM Explorer (purchased in 2010) to replace ad hoc processes and provide a single platform for facilities management.

CAFM Explorer was implemented as a full FM system—helpdesk, asset register, planned maintenance, contracts, space management (CAFM CAD), budgeting and reporting—backed by on-site consultant support. The tool now manages 600,000 sq ft across 21 countries and over 4,500 UK assets, increased recorded helpdesk calls from ~280 to 800 (through better capture), and delivers ~200 tailored reports; these outcomes have improved response times, data visibility, cost transparency and the FM team’s reputation within Catlin.
