A CAESES Case Study
Voith faced the challenge of developing the Voith Linear Jet (VLJ) — a propulsor that must deliver high efficiency across a wide operating range while delaying cavitation to reduce noise and vibration. To tackle this, Voith used CAESES for parametric geometry modeling of the full VLJ system, including tunnel and hull integration as well as rotor and stator geometries, enabling a simulation-driven design approach.
CAESES provided a fully automated workflow—parametric hull/tunnel and blade models, automated block-structured meshing, and built-in design-study strategies—so Voith could run large-scale CFD studies on its HPC systems and rapidly evaluate many design candidates. The CAESES-driven process produced VLJ designs that sustain high efficiency across speeds and reduce cavitation (and thus noise and vibrations), allowing Voith to identify and deliver the best design solutions for customers.
