Vast Solar – basic and detail design of main steam circuit of Jemalong pilot solar plant

Vast Solar was developing a concentrated solar thermal power pilot plant at Jemalong and faced the challenge of designing large-scale, sloped sodium piping to enable drainage over 500 meters between solar fields. Their engineering partner, H&D Engineering, also needed to change all design standards mid-project from EN to ASME. They utilized the Cadmatic 3D design solution to address these complex engineering tasks.

The Cadmatic solution efficiently managed the mid-project change of standards, saving significant time and effort. Its 'Follow pipe' tool was instrumental in designing the long, sloped piping runs to accurately hit connection points on equipment hundreds of meters away. The software also streamlined the entire design process, from importing large technology files to preparing documentation, and facilitated seamless project communication between teams in Australia and the Czech Republic.
