Case Study: Turun Seudun Puhdistamo boosts wastewater pipeline design and operations with Cadmatic

TSP - Wastewater pipeline the first major MTBM project in Finland

The Finnish wastewater treatment company Turun Seudun Puhdistamo Oy (TSP) faced the challenge of building a major new wastewater pipeline and UV plant. They needed an efficient and environmentally friendly method to install the pipeline under a busy urban district while also creating a comprehensive digital model of the entire treatment plant for future operations and maintenance, a challenge they addressed with vendor Cadmatic.

Cadmatic provided its eShare information management software and 3D modeling solutions to create a digital twin of the plant. This solution enabled efficient design coordination between stakeholders, replaced traditional drawings, and provided easy access to operational data. The results included the project being recognized with two national awards for its innovative pipe-jacking method, which cut carbon emissions by approximately 3,000 tCO2e. Cadmatic's tools also future-proofed the plant's operations by integrating all design and documentation into an accessible, up-to-date model.
