The customer, Damen Naval, the naval shipbuilding division of Damen Shipyards Group, faced the challenge of managing simultaneous hull and outfitting design from teams located in different geographical locations worldwide. They also needed a way to present PDM and ERP data in a single, unified interface for their production department without requiring multiple applications. To address this, they turned to vendor Cadmatic and its solutions.

Cadmatic implemented a solution using replicas of its Outfitting database to enable concurrent engineering across global sites. Their eShare platform provided the single interface for production, automating data presentation and using color coding to visualize equipment and piping statuses, a process updated daily without human intervention. This allowed for efficient distributed design work and gave the production team clear, real-time insight into the build status, streamlining the entire shipbuilding process for naval vessels.
