Bluetech Finland – Innovate approach to 3D hull basic design for 158-meter RoPax

Bluetech Finland, a Finnish ship design company, sought to introduce 3D modeling into the very early basic design phase of a 158-meter RoPax ferry. Their challenge was to increase accuracy and save significant time in later design phases, moving away from the traditional 2D approach. To achieve this, they utilized Cadmatic's CADMATIC Hull software for the 3D basic design.

Cadmatic's solution, implemented by Bluetech, centered on an optimized 3D modeling process that kept the model lightweight to avoid unnecessary work. This approach allowed the basic design model to form the backbone for approval drawings and to be reused as the framework for subsequent hull detail and outfitting design. The results included a significant reduction in the work required later in detail design, increased overall design quality with fewer mistakes, and the early availability of accurate data for production planning.
