Case Study: ZF Friedrichshafen AG reduces duplicate parts and streamlines component development with CADENAS PARTsolutions

A CADENAS PARTsolutions Case Study

How ZF links parts management to existing PDM systems to meet the needs of individual departments

ZF Friedrichshafen AG, a global leader in driveline and chassis technology, needed a better way to manage parts across its CAD and PDM environment. Before 2005, standard parts were managed in a database that worked only with PTC Pro/E, not with CATIA, which led to many newly created duplicate parts and unnecessary costs. ZF also needed the new system to integrate with its existing Axalant product management and SAP-connected workflows.

CADENAS implemented its Strategic Parts Management solution, PARTsolutions, giving ZF searchable access to supplier and standard parts with 3D previews and powerful search by topology, sketch, or text. The system was integrated with ZF’s PDM environment and later extended to a second PDM system as well. As a result, ZF significantly reduced duplicate parts, sped up component development, and saved about 1,000 Euros for each newly created part avoided, with 2,400 PARTsolutions licenses supporting nearly all CAD users.
