Surrey Heath Borough Council - Customer Case Study

Surrey Heath Borough Council, serving a population of over 80,000 in south England, was experiencing shortcomings with its existing land- and property-related GIS and needed a corporate-wide solution to support e‑government and link back-office systems (planning, building control, land charges). The council selected Cadcorp’s technology — Cadcorp SIS and GeognoSIS.NET — and engaged Cadcorp partner Plantech Ltd. after geospatial searches and integration issues revealed limits in the previous setup.

Plantech implemented a Cadcorp-based solution by using the Cadcorp SIS SDK to embed GIS functionality into its ACOLAID back‑office suite and deploying Cadcorp GeognoSIS.NET for intranet/web access, backed by a central Oracle spatial repository. The Cadcorp-driven integration created a dynamic two‑way link with in‑app digitising and spatial/textual lookup, is now in daily use across planning, building control, land charges and environmental health, replaced legacy systems, enabled public-facing services (Planning Portal, NLIS Level 3, Building Control Online) and materially sped up land/property workflows and customer service while helping the council meet its e‑government targets.
