Case Study: Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service (RBFRS) achieves GIS-enabled performance monitoring and management with Cadcorp GeognoSIS

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service rolls out Cadcorp web mapping application

RBFRS (Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service), which operates 20 stations and responds to around 12,000 incidents a year, needed better performance monitoring and management across multiple databases (incident records, staff/equipment, buildings and performance tracking) to meet reporting requirements and target resources more effectively. They engaged Cadcorp and deployed Cadcorp SIS with Cadcorp GeognoSIS to deliver web‑enabled GIS “web maps” accessible across the service.

Cadcorp implemented a GeognoSIS-based web map layer integrated with RBFRS’s IRS, Firewatch, IBIS and pbviews databases so users can view, validate and aggregate incident and risk data from a standard browser, launch linked records and export XML for government reporting. The Cadcorp solution gives staff automated hotspot alarms, rolling maps of top risk areas, station-level performance dashboards and streamlined IRS validation, enabling real‑time, location-based performance analysis and better targeting of prevention and response resources.
