PB Training & Development Solutions Ltd (PBTDS) was contracted to deliver an intensive one‑week land surveying and GIS course to help Land Registry staff achieve NVQ units and progress to Associate RICS membership. The challenge was to give largely non‑surveying candidates hands‑on experience and provide all the evidence required by the NVQ/RICS ATC in a short time, including easy loading of Ordnance Survey large‑scale data, rapid import of field survey results and straightforward map production — requirements met using Cadcorp and specifically the Cadcorp SIS GIS platform.

Cadcorp supplied Cadcorp SIS and bespoke technical support (including scripts to transform .csv survey exports into map overlays with OS‑style symbology), enabling students to combine field data with Ordnance Survey basemaps, digitise field sketches and produce finished maps on templates. With Cadcorp SIS integrated into the course workflow, PBTDS has delivered a steady stream of candidates (around 24 a year) able to gather NVQ evidence, strengthen Land Registry surveying capability and return to the workplace with increased confidence and practical GIS/survey skills.
