A Cadcorp Case Study
Knight Frank, a leading international property consultant with nearly 40 UK offices and about 1,100 staff, needed to modernise estate management and country-property sales by moving from paper maps and disparate records to accurate, auditable digital mapping — vital for CAP subsidy claims, tenancy management and compliance with legislation such as the CROW Act. In 2002 Knight Frank selected Cadcorp and implemented the Cadcorp SIS suite (notably Map Modeller for advanced mapping and Map Viewer for client access) to provide a comprehensive digital mapping and surveying service across its Rural Consultancy and Country Departments.
Cadcorp’s solution combined OS MasterMap/Land Line data, HM Land Registry plans and field surveys (GPS/aerial/total station) in Cadcorp SIS to build a linked spatial and tabular database, with modular tools tailored to internal teams and estate clients. The result was consistent, professional full‑colour maps and searchable records that sped map production, strengthened client relationships, supported property sales and office-location planning, and reduced risks and costs by helping avoid RPA subsidy penalties and tenancy disputes — delivering measurable operational and commercial benefits for Knight Frank.
