Grand Union Housing Group - Customer Case Study

Grand Union Housing Group needed to centralise and make easily accessible the geographic information for some 10,000 properties across its partner organisations. To meet this challenge it implemented Cadcorp’s SIS system integrated with Ordnance Survey MasterMap (Topography, Imagery, Address Layer 2 and Boundary-Line), using a PostGIS database and Citrix delivery so users can access GIS functionality without a local client.

Cadcorp’s solution let Grand Union link housing spreadsheets to addresses and postcodes, extract building polygons, produce hot‑spot maps for antisocial behaviour, visualise maintenance clusters and define precise boundaries — speeding up property searches and operational planning while enabling multi‑agency working. The system delivered tangible savings (for example £7,000 on a £32,000 grass‑cutting contract) and established the Cadcorp-powered GIS as a central repository to improve efficiency across the organisation.
