Digimap for Schools, delivered by EDINA, provides a subscription web‑mapping service that removes the need for individual schools to buy, store and manage mapping data or specialist software. The challenge was to give primary and secondary teachers and pupils fast, easy, classroom‑ready access to Ordnance Survey mapping without the jargon or ICT overheads that many schools lack. Cadcorp is named in the service architecture and its technology supports key functionality.

EDINA implemented a browser‑based Digimap for Schools application using Cadcorp technology (Cadcorp SIS / Cadcorp GeognoSIS for on‑demand print output) to deliver mapping, annotation, measurement and print/export tools. The solution scaled across KS1–KS4 (ages 5–16), is supported by more than sixty online teaching resources, removed hardware/software costs and ICT management burden for schools, and helped pupils build clearer spatial understanding in line with Ofsted recommendations. Cadcorp’s software enables reliable map rendering and print output on demand.
