Cadcorp SIS brings improved productivity and data sharing to West Yorkshire Police

West Yorkshire Police, the fourth largest force in the UK serving about 2.1 million people across 2,000 km² and roughly 9,000 staff, faced an ageing mapping system that was accessible to only a small percentage of users, locked licences to individual PCs, required extensive training, kept data isolated, and could not deliver timely dynamic information. To modernise its corporate GIS and improve data sharing and accessibility, the force selected Cadcorp and its Cadcorp SIS® (Spatial Information System®).

Cadcorp deployed Cadcorp SIS as a web-based GIS (Cadcorp Web Map Viewer), desktop GIS (Cadcorp SIS Map Modeller) and embedded components within the Steria STORM command-and-control system, providing concurrent licences, shared datasets (including OS MasterMap) and simple interfaces so many more staff can access up-to-date crime, incident and boundary data aligned to shift patterns. The Cadcorp implementation eliminated manual replication with reusable templates, enabled global updates to reduce maintenance effort, improved resource dispatch and response efficiency, and increased data sharing and situational awareness across West Yorkshire Police.
