Bedfordshire County Council - Customer Case Study

Bedfordshire County Council needed to reduce crime, anti‑social behaviour and the public’s fear of crime while meeting e‑government targets for secure information sharing across multiple partner agencies. To create a single, map‑based view of data from police, fire, health, housing and local authorities the council’s CDRP partners selected Cadcorp and its GeognoSIS.NET platform to deliver a web‑based GIS accessible through standard browsers.

Cadcorp implemented the SCRIBE system on GeognoSIS.NET with an Oracle 9i central database, integrating Ordnance Survey maps, aerial imagery and partner datasets and supporting over 150 native formats. Cadcorp’s solution delivered a cross‑partner analysis workbench and a public Citizone portal with anonymised incident feeds and interactive reporting, enabling ward/sub‑ward and police‑beat audits, hotspot and trend analysis by time, location and crime type, and better targeting of resources and design of safer public spaces.
