Case Study: Allianz achieves reduced insurance losses and improved risk management with Cadcorp SIS

A Cadcorp Case Study

Preview of the Allianz Case Study

Allianz - Customer Case Study

Allianz, a leading UK general insurance group, needed better ways to assess and manage accumulating property risks so underwriters could price premiums correctly and avoid excessive losses while meeting regulatory requirements such as Solvency 2. To address this, Allianz deployed Cadcorp SIS (Spatial Information System) to combine postcode-based exposures with perils data (flood, contaminated land, etc.) and generate hazard ratings for underwriting decisions.

Cadcorp implemented a hazard/perils database (stored in Oracle) and a wizard-driven Cadcorp SIS interface that lets underwriters query postcodes and managers use mapping and spatial analysis (including buffers on Ordnance Survey MasterMap via six virtual IBM machines) to identify nearby risks. The Cadcorp solution moved reporting from every six months to monthly, giving faster, more accurate accumulation visibility so underwriters can apply premium uplifts or decline business, and better satisfy Solvency 2; Allianz also plans to adopt Cadcorp GeognoSIS for real‑time online reporting.
