University Hospitals of Leicester - Customer Case Study

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, one of the UK’s largest and busiest NHS Trusts, needed better ways to monitor costs and clinical performance while supporting its five-year strategic vision, “Caring at its best.” Faced with 5% annual efficiency savings targets and the need to give clinicians access to patient-level financial and activity data, the Trust turned to CACI Limited for a Patient Level Information and Costing System (PLICS).

CACI Limited implemented Synergy Costing, giving more than 400 users across the Trust access to financial and clinical data through QlikView dashboards. The solution enabled monthly service-line profitability analysis, patient-level costing and income reporting, better monitoring of cost improvement targets, and improved clinical coding. As a result, UHL achieved stronger clinical engagement, real improvements in quality and cost reduction, and millions of pounds in efficiency savings.
