Case Study: Scottish Water improves domestic water demand forecasting and leakage reduction with CACI Acorn data

A CACI Limited Case Study

Scottish Water models domestic water use across 3,000+ areas with CACI Limited

Scottish Water, a public water and wastewater utility, needed to understand domestic water consumption across its network to reduce usage and control leakage. With few domestic water meters in Scotland, the company faced a challenge in stratifying its customer base. Scottish Water partnered with vendor CACI Limited and used its Acorn data to build accurate predictive models of household water demand.

CACI implemented a sophisticated data modelling solution using Acorn to determine expected water usage across over 3,000 metered areas. This allowed Scottish Water to compare actual flow data against the model to quickly pinpoint differences caused by leakage or network anomalies. The solution provided a highly accurate benchmark, enabling teams to prioritize investigations and dispatch repair crews with a high degree of confidence, leading to quicker and more efficient leak detection and repair.
