Predicting Store Turnover to Ensure Profitable New Openings

The Southern Co-operative worked with CACI Limited to improve its store network planning and new-store forecasting. The customer needed a GIS and sales forecasting model that could better understand local catchments, benchmark prospective sites against the existing estate, and support profitable growth and optimisation.

CACI Limited built a bespoke turnover forecasting model in Spatial Modeller, using it with InSite and Acorn to estimate turnover, assess catchments, and support local marketing and ranging decisions. The solution helped The Southern Co-operative make better investment decisions, maintain a stronger food store network plan, and improve like-for-like sales in existing stores through more targeted store ranges.
