Network Rail powers open data access for 600+ users with CACI Limited

CACI Limited helped Network Rail overcome the challenge of making its vast and varied operational rail data accessible to the public. The data arrived in multiple formats and at inconsistent frequencies, and Network Rail required it to be provided openly without any obfuscation or filtering to encourage innovation.

CACI developed and managed the National Rail Open Data (NROD) platform using AWS infrastructure to process and enrich the data. The solution provided user portals for account management and access. As a result, over 600 registered users now leverage the data to create applications like real-time journey planners. CACI continues to enhance the service through user engagement and by expanding data availability on the Rail Data Marketplace.
