Department for Transport (DfT) Aviation Security Compliance needed a robust IT system to manage its aviation inspection programme across planning, scheduling, tasking, reporting and rectification. Working with CACI Limited, the team sought a solution that could automate complex compliance processes, optimise inspector scheduling, and support requirements under EC Directive 300/2008 while reducing manual administration.

CACI Limited implemented its inspection management system, Cygnum, to automate demand generation, intelligent scheduling, workflow management, mobile tasking and electronic data capture. The solution helped DfT ASC significantly reduce manual administration costs, improve efficiency and compliance reporting, and equip inspectors with pre-populated forms on handheld devices, while a phased rollout and tailored training supported adoption.
