The client, a leading CPG firm, faced a significant challenge in the German market where a competitor brand held a dominant 76% share in the snacking category. The business problem was to identify a winning brand-price-pack combination to capture revenue share from this competitor with minimal cannibalization of its own products. To address this, they partnered with the vendor C5i for a price pack architecture study.
C5i implemented a decision-centric planning simulator to model consumer response to different pack formats and price points. Their solution identified an optimal combination that was projected to generate $80.43M in potential portfolio revenue. The results included a 3.1% revenue growth for the brand's portfolio, with 71.5% of the volume for the winning combination coming from the competition. C5i's recommendations were also designed to gain $50.3M from the existing market and fuel further innovation to counter competitors.
